  • Ivy Mike explosion

    United States successfully detonated the first thermonuclear weapon in the Enewetak Atoll of the Marshall Islands. Codenamed Ivy Mike, the first hydrogen bomb recorded a yield of 10.4 megatons, approximately 500 times the yield of the first atomic bombs dropped on Japan.
