  • Joseph Smith born

    Joseph Smith, Jr., the founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, is born in Sharon, Vermont. Smith transcribed the Book of Mormon during one of his revelations. Smith led the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints until his death at the hands of a mob in Carthage, Illinois.
