  • Nixon resigns

    President Richard Nixon announces his resignation from office, becoming the only president to prematurely exit the White House. Addressing the American people, Nixon stressed the advances made during his presidency and cited his lack of Congressional support. Vice President Gerald Ford took the Oath-of-Office the following day as Nixon dramatically left the White House.
