Dries Bessels is a Dutch amateur historian and Route 66 enthusiast. He is a founding member of the Dutch Route 66 Association and has traveled the road 14 times as a tour guide. He is also the author of a Route 66 travel guide in Dutch, has contributed to several Route 66 books in English, and has given lectures on the subject at events in California and Europe.
For their contributions in promoting the road and its history, Bessels and his wife, Marion, have been enshrined in the Route 66 Hall of Fame in Kingman, Arizona. They live in Westzaan, an ancient town just north of Amsterdam.
