On July 1-3, 1863, Union and Confederate forces met a battle that would ultimately turn the tide of the Civil War. After three days of fierce fighting, General Robert E. Lee ordered his troops to retreat, thereby ending the Confederacy's most penetrating push into northern territory.

Today, Gettysburg National Military Park holds 1.3 million objects, including a large set of uniforms, flags, and guns.
