The African American Museum in Philadelphia celebrates the rich black culture whose roots in the city date back centuries. Its four exhibit rooms recount the story that began in the colonial period when the abolition movement first gained momentum, and which continued into the 19^th century with an unprecedented ban on racial discrimination.
